Työväenmuseo Werstas
The Finnish Labour Museum Werstas collects objects and other materials related to working life and social history in Finland.
The museum is located in the historic Finlayson factory area in Tampere. Entry to the museum is always free of charge!
The Finnish Labour Museum Werstas is a national museum responsible for documenting Finnish working life and social history designated by the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture. The Finnish Labour Museum Werstas’ activities are based on extensive documentation and wide-ranging exhibitions, collections, and events. The museum also offers free admission to all visitors.
The museum seeks to understand history from various perspectives by exploring the life of ordinary workers and various minorities, as well as marginal phenomena. Free admission offers everyone an equal opportunity to visit the museum and its exhibitions. The museum attracts more than 50,000 visitors every year.
The Finnish Labour Museum Werstas has two smaller branch museums: the Finnish Museum of the Deaf and the Lenin Museum. The Finnish Museum of the Deaf, which merged with Werstas in 2012, is located in Helsinki, and its collections are maintained in Tampere.
